"I had high hopes for getting some clear advice on my coverage, but my experience was pretty disappointing. It felt like I was being rushed through the whole process, and my questions were met with really vague answers that didn't help me understand my policy at all. "I am disappointed that a negative star rating is not an option. This office's operations are comparable to those of a high-pressure sales environment, with an office space that is less than ideal. The only distinction is the superior quality of Mr. Mason's attire. None of the services or products we acquired were executed correctly on the initial attempt. We were clients of Farm Bureau for three decades prior to transitioning to State Farm. I would likely have remained with Farm Bureau had they offered more than a two-week window for new roof installation; indeed, the new roof was installed six weeks later. Consequently, our entire family opted to try State Farm. What I was not aware of is that Mr. Mason does not directly underwrite home and auto insurance policies; instead, these are forwarded to a third-party entity referred to as "underwriting." Therefore, when issues arise with insurance through Mr. Mason, the responsibility is attributed to underwriting, with the explanation, "we are unable to provide assistance."
We transitioned to Progressive, resulting in an annual savings of approximately $1,100 on our home and auto insurance. This substantial saving allowed us to enhance our coverage, including the addition of earthquake insurance for our residence while still achieving an annual net savings exceeding $200.
It is noteworthy that during my single year of coverage with them, my interactions with their representatives, either by phone or in person, surpassed the cumulative interactions I had over three decades with Farm Bureau. I am pleased to confirm the termination of my association with Mason and State Farm, effective today, October 31, 2025. I regret not having documented all interactions with him and his team, as we experienced two instances of misinformation. Therefore, I advise all prospective clients to meticulously record all communications.
Edit: Response to Mason's reply
The "claims" he reffers to are:
My son had 2 tickets PRIOR to getting insurance with Mason. He knew about them and even said repeatedly that my son will be on his own policy and not reflect on ours, his parents policy.
Next is glass breakage. My daughter was visiting and parked her new car in the driveway. My security cameras show that the rear glass was fine in one frame and shattered in the next at 4k resolution. No one was even outside or near the car. Nothing fell, it wasn't under a tree... This is the first time I've ever had glass breakage treated equally as a wreck claim.
Next claim was on the same car for hail damage. Whenever the amount wouldn't cover the damage on a full coverage car my daughter told Mason to drop the claim. It was only 2 weeks ago that we found out that not only did they not drop the claim but even though no money was used they would hold it against us.
Last straw, I am disabled and in a wheelchair. My VMI disability van has full coverage with roadside assistance. I had a flat tire while on the way to a doctor appointment. I called roadside to air up the tire only so I could drive it to a shop on Kentucky Ave. That also counted against us as a full claim.
So how many of the above sounds fair and legit? How good is your insurance if you can't even use the glass breakage you pay extra for or the "complimentary" roadside assistance to air a tire up? Then he tells you, "you are going to be canceled Jan 1st" because you used the insurance you overpaid for. You can try and dress that pig up however you want Mason, but it still shows that your insurance is poor at best and that you lied twice about my son being on his own policy wouldn't count against us on several occasions. Both you and office staff repeated that lie before we switched to you.
Now my son is on a completely different insurance company than ours so none of this can happen again. We all pay less with more coverage so at the end of the day it is a win for my family to get away from Mason and State Farm. I just don't want anyone seeing all 5 star reviews and think this is a good or even average insurance company."
